Arthur was educated at The Oaks Public School. He trained as a Farmer and Dairyman. Arthur gave his occupation as Prospector when he enlisted 27 February 1915 at Leonora Western Australia, and his next of kin his father James McEvoy of 'Vanderville' The Oaks and then Miss Bridget O'Keefe of Leonora, Western Australia.

Arthur served in the 28th Battalion A.I.F. He departed Perth on the 'Ascanius' 29 June 1915 and arrived in France via Gallipoli, Egypt and England June 1916.

Lance Corporal Arthur Peter MCEVOY was reported missing, wounded in action between 16 and 18 November 1916 at The Somme France. Seven months later he was confirmed killed in action at The Somme France between 16 and 18 November 1916 age 43.
