William's postal address was 'Alma Park' Silverdale. His occupation was Farmer when he enlisted at Wallacia in January 1916 and served in the 54th Battalion A.I.F.
William departed Sydney on the 'Star of England' 8 March 1916 and arrived in France via Egypt June 1916.

His brother (Private 2421) Edward Gibson died in France on 11 April 1917 age 25.
