William served in the 18th Battalion A.I.F. He departed Sydney on the 'Aeneas' 20 December 1915 and arrived in France via England September 1916. He was wounded in action 8 August 1918 France. His brother (Private 1479) Reginald James Ellis was killed in action in France in 1917. Private William Henry ELLIS was killed in action in France 31 August 1918 age 21. |
