John gave his occupation as Labourer when he enlisted 14 September 1915 at Warwick Farm, and his next of kin his mother Mrs Hannah Jones of Bringelly.
He served in the Training Squadron Light Horse Depot A.I.F. His cousin Albert Butler Coggins served in the A.I.F. in France.
Trooper John Butler ALLEN died from Meningitis on 8 October 1915 at the Army Field Hospital Liverpool, NSW age 24.
